About the Role

This is a new role with a focus on partnering with Yooralla leadership and staff to promote and deliver a proactive and preventative safety culture through the provision of high-quality and best practice workplace health, safety and wellbeing advice, guidance and support and to respond to issues and incidents as identified.

Your proven ability to build relationships, provide advice on health and safety matters and technical expertise on risk management processes will have you perfectly suited to this critical role.

About You:
  • Experience working in a business partnership capacity alongside leaders in the delivery of health, safety and wellbeing solutions
  • Experience working with and developing WHS systems and processes
  • Extensive knowledge of the OH&S Act 2004 and Regulations
  • Familiarity with contemporary practice in relation to the management of key risks in the disability sector including Manual Handling and Psycho-social risk
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, facilitation influencing, stakeholder management and general negotiation skills
Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and protect the human rights of people with disability, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)
  • Work to ensure high-quality and safe supports and services for NDIS participants, meeting and exceeding the NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators
  • Meet obligations under all relevant Victorian and Commonwealth legislation
  • Work in accordance with the Yooralla Code of Conduct and Employee Manual
  • Support a risk-aware culture by proactively identifying and reporting risk
  • Identify, manage and monitor risks within their area and support a risk-aware culture where staff actively identify and report risks
Requirements:
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current driver licence to drive in Australia
  • International Police Check (If Applicable)
Personal Qualities:
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to negotiate and provide expert advice on WHS matters, including incident management and risk mitigation strategies
  • Proven ability to coordinate WHS processes, ensuring timely implementation of early intervention strategies and proactive safety measures
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to achieve WHS outcomes within specified deadlines
  • High proficiency in technology, particularly Microsoft Office Suite and WHS-related software systems
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of safety and wellness, driving continuous improvement in WHS practices
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple WHS projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and maintain high integrity in managing WHS-related cases
  • Strong interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration and positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement in WHS practices, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for all stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage time effectively, handle competing priorities, and work autonomously when required
