Research Scientist Position in Cancer Biology and Machine Learning

We are seeking an outstanding research scientist to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative solutions in cancer biology and machine learning.

Job Description:

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on a prestigious PhD scholarship project, focusing on connecting spatial and spectral information to understand complex materials systems at the molecular level with machine learning. The project involves working with tumour sections to develop multiple instance learning and weak supervision / spatial transcriptomics models to individualise tumour type, associated biomarkers and genomic characteristics to high precision.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A strong background in one or more relevant disciplines including cancer biology, cancer medicine, physics, chemistry, engineering, machine learning / data science, and coding.
  • An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or New Zealand special category visa holder.
  • Have completed a Masters by Research or other significant body of research, such as an honours research thesis or lead authorship of a peer-reviewed publication, assessed at a La Trobe Masters by research standard of 75 or above.

About the Project:

The project aims to develop multipurpose machine learning workflows for rapid precision diagnoses and effective individualized cancer care plans. You will work closely with our team to design and implement these workflows, leveraging your expertise in machine learning and data science.
