Key Responsibilities
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Leadership: Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility, and ensure that all team members adhere to our safety standards.
  • Portfolio Performance Management: Monitor and manage portfolio performance, identify critical activities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to deliver the capital portfolio in line with safety standards, requirements, budget, and scope.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership to teams throughout the project lifecycle, focused on the governance and execution of construction strategies, standards, and frameworks.
  • Asset Integrity Management: Manage Asset Integrity for the site's assets and ensure compliance to Engineering Standards for all newly procured plant and equipment.
  • Management of Change: Govern the Management of Change process for all modifications and improvements to infrastructure and equipment.
  • Document Management: Ensure all documents and drawings are managed in accordance with the blueprint standard.
  • Cost Management: Manage costs according to the budget and be accountable for regular forecasting and rectifying variances.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess risks, make risk-informed decisions, and use BHP's risk management framework to build a risk-aware culture.
  • Lessons Learned and Best Practices: Lead the creation of an environment in which lessons learned and external best practices are part of the operational processes.
  • Culture and Communication: Implement positive communication and cultural processes to support project and operational outcomes.
About You
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering-related discipline.
  • Project Management Experience: Significant Project Management experience, preferably via delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary investments and management of large teams.
  • Safety Leadership Expertise: Advanced safety leadership expertise with proven commitment to safety and sustainability.
  • Commercial Qualifications: Degree qualified in STEM, with supplementary MBA or similar commercial qualifications preferred but not essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Lead by example, with confidence, resilience, and determination to hold yourself and others accountable.
  • Negotiation and Coaching Skills: Mature negotiation, mentoring, and coaching skills that support a high-performing team built on a learning mindset.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
