Urban Planning Development Role

This is a full-time position that offers a graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Town Planning the chance to work alongside experienced planners in a statutory planning team.

  • The candidate will receive a wage while studying their degree and have their university fees paid by the council for the duration of the cadetship.
  • This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience across all facets of statutory, development assessment, compliance, and policy.

The successful candidate will work on projects involving duty enquires, development assessment, compliance, and policy, as well as contributing to the health and wellbeing program and professional learning and development opportunities within the organisation.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must currently be enrolled in or studying in their penultimate or final year of a Bachelor of Planning (or equivalent) at a registered training organisation. Strong organisational skills, time management, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working across all facets of statutory planning, including duty enquires, development assessment, compliance, and policy.
  • Maintaining computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email and internet programs.
  • Demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Applying planning theory to real-world situations.
  • Working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in or studying in their penultimate or final year of a Bachelor of Planning (or equivalent).
  • Strong general computer literacy, including basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email and internet programs.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply planning theory to real-world situations.
  • Strong organisational skills and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
