About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Officer to provide technical support in our School teaching laboratories. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with academic staff, laboratory demonstrators, and students to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our laboratory classes.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of chemistry and/or experience working in a chemistry teaching laboratory. You will be responsible for providing high-quality technical support, including the timely preparation for and turnaround of practical classes. You will also provide technical assistance to staff and students, such as demonstration of common techniques and the operation of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the smooth and efficient running of teaching laboratories through the provision of quality technical support

• Provide technical assistance to staff and students, including demonstration of common techniques and the operation of equipment

• Source and maintain equipment, instruments, or chemicals and consumables required for laboratory teaching classes

• Accurately prepare and maintain laboratory documentation, including safety records and instrument/equipment/plant records

Requirements

• A relevant qualification or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training, and/or experience

• Extensive understanding of chemistry and/or experience working in a chemistry teaching laboratory

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines

• Demonstrated initiative and a high level of self-motivation
