Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Coatings Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing process, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality finish for our bus bodies.

To be successful in this position, you will have a strong background in body building and refinishing, with excellent skills in preparing parts and surfaces for painting, applying rust-proof undercoats and primers, and identifying and touching up any defective areas.

You will work closely with our team to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, and maintain a safe working environment. Additionally, you will manage paint stock inventory levels and liaise with representatives as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare parts and surfaces for painting or coating by removing dirt, rust, and any loose/old paint.
  • Paint vehicles and parts using various paint finishes.
  • Properly mask areas which are not being painted and remove tape at the completion of the job.
  • Apply rust proof undercoats and primers using a spray gun.
  • Identify and touch up any defective areas.
  • Manage paint stock inventory levels and liaise with representatives.
  • Safely use spray paint tools and equipment such as spray guns, pressure pots etc.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures.
  • Able to paint metallics and 2K paints.
  • Sand surfaces by hand alongside automatic tools.
  • Colour match and mix paints to match paint shades, and select pre-mixed paint.
  • Rectify and polish finished paintwork where necessary.
  • Remove damaged panels and parts, and remove upholstery and accessories to gain access where required.
  • Remove minor dents and scratches where necessary.
Requirements

In order to succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in body building and refinishing.
  • Excellent skills in preparing parts and surfaces for painting, applying rust-proof undercoats and primers, and identifying and touching up any defective areas.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with safety policies and procedures.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
