About the Opportunity

The Senior Programmer plays a pivotal role in ensuring that public programming and event design create engaging experiences for the Library's key audiences. This involves overseeing the full program life cycle, from concept and curation to delivery, and developing new program streams, projects, and ideas that balance audience needs, budget, and contract management.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage existing and develop new strands of programming that deliver on audience and community outcomes
* Ensure programs are contemporary and relevant within the literary, arts, and cultural sector, including expertise of trends, best practices, access to creatives, and commissioning of works
* Develop and maintain project management plans to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to agreed financial models and specifications
* Develop and negotiate agreements with artists, presenters, co-presenters, partners, or agents to ensure the successful development of projects
* Contribute to and authorise supporting content for programs, such as marketing materials, presentations, and AV content
* Ensure that program formats, content, and context are accessible, inclusive, appropriate, and appealing for the Library's key audiences

About You

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of learning program design and the design requirements for the production of events, programs, and content intended for the target audience. They possess insights into issues and trends within the cultural, arts, and literary sectors, knowledge of diverse access needs and expectations, and a successful track record in developing and maintaining partnerships and collaborations.

Requirements

* Tertiary education in a related field or equivalent work experience
* Extensive demonstrated experience in producing, curatorial practice, or programming of events in the museums, library, or tourism sectors
* Demonstrated experience in a programming role in a similar setting
* A successful track record in developing and maintaining partnerships and collaborations, including with cultural and community partners
* Demonstrated experience in managing complex project, program, or multi-year budgets, including ticketed experiences
* Demonstrated experience in negotiating and relationship management with a range of multidisciplinary stakeholders, including from the arts, cultural, literary, or community sectors
* Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering accessible and inclusive events
