The role of Asbestos Coordinator plays a critical part in managing the Public Transport Authority's asbestos management program. This permanent, full-time position involves overseeing various aspects to ensure safe and compliant operations.

About the Role

This position encompasses:

  • Coordinating asbestos inspections, re-inspections, and maintaining accurate records for effective risk management
  • Reviewing and improving the Public Transport Authority's asbestos management plan to align with industry best practices
  • Managing contracts related to asbestos removal and monitoring expenditure to optimize resources
  • Assessing permit-to-work applications and coordinating responses to unexpected asbestos findings to minimize disruptions
  • Preparing reports on program progress and contractor performance to inform strategic decisions
  • Liaising with internal teams and external providers to mitigate asbestos-related risks and provide training to staff members
About You

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • A minimum of a Certificate IV in Work, Health, and Safety or an equivalent discipline
  • Significant knowledge of the WA Health and Safety legislation and asbestos-related Code of Practice
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating complex asset portfolios and implementing effective asbestos management plans
  • Strong background in procuring and managing environmental consultants to achieve desired outcomes
  • Highly developed skills in analyzing data, identifying risks, and providing informed recommendations to stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and apply advanced computer skills to streamline processes
