Senior Academic Nursing Leader

Deakin University, a leading public university in Victoria, seeks an exceptional academic nursing leader to fill the position of Chair In Nursing. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic and professional leadership to clinical and academic staff and students at Deakin University and Monash Health.
Job OverviewThe Chair In Nursing is a senior academic position that requires a strong background in nursing practice, research, and leadership. The successful candidate will report jointly to the Executive Dean, Faculty of Health, and the Executive Director, Nursing & Midwifery, Monash Health.
About the RoleKey responsibilities of the Chair In Nursing include:
- Establishing networks within Monash Health, Deakin University, the local community, and the national/international nursing professional community;
- Leading and participating in university and health service committees, actively contributing to the governance and collegial life of the University and Monash Health;
- Promoting Monash Health, the School, and Faculty to prospective students and relevant professional, industry, and government bodies in Australia and internationally;
- Contributing to the achievement of Monash Health patient safety and quality strategic priorities through the alignment of strategic priorities within QPS;
- Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and Monash Health and University policies, including equity and equal opportunity;
- Representing nursing and midwifery at Monash Health as a member of the senior nursing leadership group;
- Providing a strong contribution to health service, university, and state committees that enhance the reputation and activities of the Monash Health partnership.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should possess:
- A PhD in a relevant field and eligibility or registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a registered nurse;
- Demonstrable academic leadership and professional expertise in the field of nursing;
- An internationally recognised research profile and scholarly publications in the field of nursing, including domestic and/or international research linkages;
- Success in securing competitive research and/or commercial funding, particularly, and pursuing opportunities to secure research funding;
- A proven record of attracting and successfully supervising Honours, Masters, and PhD students;
- Evidence of ability to build partnerships with professional, industry, and government organisations to further relevant educational, research, and entrepreneurial activities.
We are offering a competitive salary package, estimated to be around $180,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
