About the Role

The Australian Public Service (APS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Travel Policy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the Defence Travel Policy Directorate, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of travel policies and procedures that support the Defence organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel Policy Development: Develop, maintain, and update travel policies and procedures to ensure they are aligned with Defence's strategic objectives and meet the needs of Defence travellers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback and input on travel policies and procedures, and to ensure that their needs are met.
  • Policy Implementation: Work with the Defence Travel Policy Directorate to implement travel policies and procedures, and to ensure that they are communicated effectively to Defence travellers.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Defence's travel program.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the Defence Travel Policy Directorate team, and contribute to the development of team members.
About the Team

The Defence Travel Policy Directorate is responsible for the development and implementation of travel policies and procedures that support the Defence organisation. We are a dynamic and collaborative team that is committed to delivering high-quality outcomes for Defence travellers.

Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a related field, such as travel policy development, administration, or management.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business administration, public administration, or a related field.
