Chief Criminal Lawyer

As a pivotal figure in Queensland's legal system, you will be responsible for leading complex criminal cases, mentoring junior lawyers, and driving meaningful improvements across the ODPP's practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Represent the Crown as leading counsel in superior court trials
- Provide expert advice on criminal law and evidence to the Director of Public Prosecutions
- Exercise prosecutorial discretion to initiate, modify, or discontinue serious criminal charges
- Champion victims' rights and support them throughout the legal process
- Develop strong relationships with judges, legal counsel, police, court officials, and victims
- Innovate and drive improvements across ODPP practices
This role requires an experienced lawyer with a deep understanding of Queensland criminal law, proven ability to manage complex trials, and strategic insight into emerging challenges in the criminal justice system.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence and advancing the ODPP's mission.
