Job Description

Rheinmetall Defence Australia is a major Defence company with operations across Australia and New Zealand delivering specialist Defence capability to the Australian Defence Force and New Zealand Defence Force.

We are seeking an experienced Human Factors Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing the Human Factors Engineering Program for one or more of our projects.

The Human Factors Specialist will be responsible for assuring that the contracted human factors requirements are met. This includes further development of Human Engineering Program Reports in accordance with contractual requirements, conducting human factors analyses and summarising results into design recommendations and requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree in Human Factors: Psychology, Ergonomics, industrial/product design or a related field. They should also have application of Human Factors standards and experience with requirements.

In addition to technical skills, the successful candidate should demonstrate strong interpersonal communication, consultation and negotiation skills. Autonomous work capabilities and high initiative are also essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Further development of Human Engineering Program Reports in accordance with contractual requirements;
  • Conducting human factors analyses, studies, experiments, simulations, tests and demonstrations and summarising results into design recommendations and requirements;
  • Optimisation of product design of Mission and Support Systems in regards to consideration of human engineering;
  • Developing suitable acceptance test plans and procedures to verify that the human engineering requirements of the Contract have been achieved;
Requirements
  • A relevant degree in Human Factors: Psychology, Ergonomics, industrial/product design or a related field;
  • Application of Human Factors standards and experience with requirements;
  • Understanding or ability to use 3D CAD (NX preferred);
  • Membership with HFESA;
  • Relevant Human Factors experience in a major Defence Program;
  • Strong interpersonal communication, consultation and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to travel internationally and interstate when required;
  • Autonomous work capabilities;
  • High initiative;
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship).
