Job Overview

This role will be based in Adelaide, working in a hybrid setup that combines remote work and in-office presence at our location in Thebarton. As a Senior Accountant, you will collaborate closely with the Finance Manager and the Managing Director to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making for our Australian business units.

You will be responsible for supporting several Australian businesses that have joined the Valsoft conglomerate, including H&L, InnQuest Australia, CMS Hospitality, Easy Employer, Wageloch, and Azility. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of these businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and review of financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets for each division.
  • Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with accounting principles and relevant regulations.
  • Participation in audit engagements and compliance requirements, including IFRS transition.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
  • Month-end entries and allocations: GL reconciliations, journal entry booking, salary and department cost allocations.
  • Accruals and provisions: Manage bonuses/commissions accruals and AFDA provisions for bad debts.
  • Payroll and tax reporting: Prepare payroll reports and tax/transfer pricing entries.
  • Financial reconciliations: Finalize monthly entries, reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts.
Budgeting and Forecasting
  • P&L Analysis and FS Preparation: Analyze the Profit and Loss statement, prepare Financial Statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
  • Review results with finance manager to provide insights, improve processes, and document financial procedures.
  • Rolling/Active forecast preparation: Develop and maintain the annual budgeting process and regularly update forecasts.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance, CPA highly preferred;
  • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years' experience in a similar position;
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including crucial support functions such as AR & AP;
  • A sound understanding of Goods & Services Tax (GST) principles;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word;
  • Proficiency in finance software applications, with Netsuite experience being advantageous;
  • An initiative-driven approach with a 'can-do' attitude;
  • The ability to derive satisfaction from quality and timeliness of work completed;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
