Job Opportunity: Motor Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced and skilled underwriter to join our team in Sydney, Australia. As a senior underwriter, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of heavy motor programs, including stakeholder relationship management, account underwriting and referrals.

This role requires strong underwriting skills, with a focus on building positive partnerships with program partners while maintaining sound underwriting discipline. You will also be responsible for developing strategies for engagement, growth and profitability, as well as collaborating with functional areas to onboard and manage existing programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and authority levels for program partners.
  • Support the development of new offerings and contribute to the growth of the marine book of business.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to develop operational standards and ensure effective claims servicing.
  • Lead program audits and manage escalations to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Provide regular reporting updates and analysis for business reviews.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of insurance experience, preferably with knowledge of motor risks.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience in stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated capability in negotiation, presentation and team building.
