We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to manage content rights for our television productions. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the entertainment industry and has a strong understanding of copyright law.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and advising on agreements related to the development and production of programming, including development agreements, format option or license agreements, and option and purchase agreements. They will also advise production executives on rights issues and clearance issues, and assist with the preparation of production protocols and guidance notes for production teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and advising on agreements related to the development and production of programming
- Advising production executives on rights issues and clearance issues
- Assisting with the preparation of production protocols and guidance notes for production teams
- Managing disputes, claims and complaints from contributors, broadcasters, viewers or other third parties
- Preparing, drafting and negotiating agreements related to the exploitation of ancillary rights
- Providing training to participants and production crew on key identified legal and business risks
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 3 + years post-qualification experience
- Experience in production (preferred) or programme rights acquisitions essential
- Strong background in copyright law and ownership of rights in content and underlying material preferred
- Qualified solicitor (essential)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, specifically Word, Excel, Share Point and Outlook
