About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our defence industry company, Highcom, in Canberra. As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for driving the company's strategic plan, overseeing day-to-day operations, and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the company's strategic plan, including the pursuit of new business opportunities in Australia and overseas, while ensuring the company remains at the forefront of innovation in its areas of specialisation.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring both divisions achieve their financial, operational, and strategic goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including in the Australian Department of Defence, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Financial Performance: Drive financial performance through the execution of the strategic sales plan and execution of efficient business operating processes and procedures.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability. Own responsibility for ASX and Board reporting requirements, including the preparation of annual reports, investor presentations, and other shareholder communications.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of executive leadership experience, preferably within the defence, aerospace, or technology sectors.
  • Proven Track Record: Proven track record of successfully leading complex organisations with multiple divisions, ideally including manufacturing operations.
  • Skills: Strategic thinking with the ability to set and communicate a clear vision for the company. Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering innovation, operational and sales excellence. Strong financial acumen, with the ability to drive growth while managing risk. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Defence Studies, or a related field is required. An MBA is highly desirable.
