Job Summary:

A career as an Farm Manager presents a unique opportunity to oversee the daily operations of a poultry farm. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing all aspects of the day-to-day activities, including sustainable livestock management practices and development of strategies that meet long-term production goals.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to sustainability. This role requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the farm to deliver optimal performance of the flock
  • Supervise and coordinate staffing requirements, ensuring timely completion of tasks
  • Operate machinery, plant, and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Monitor feed management and bird collection processes
  • Perform daily shed servicing and grounds maintenance
  • Conduct weekly accurate weighing of birds
  • Maintain accurate records of operations and performance
  • Coordinate contract vaccination crews and grading crews
  • Ensure animal welfare and quality control measures are in place
  • Respond promptly to alarms on site at any time of the day or night
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of WH&S practices and regulations
  • Analyze and improve operational efficiency

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (e.g., agriculture, business, environmental science)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in poultry farming or related industry
  • Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to sustainable livestock management practices
  • Good working knowledge of WH&S requirements and regulations
  • Efficient and organized with strong problem-solving abilities
