
Communication Specialist

This is a challenging role that requires a professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to assess, treat, educate, and manage patients experiencing developmental speech and communication difficulties/disorders.
- Identify and diagnose developmental speech and communication disorders in children.
- Provide education and support to patients, their families, and team members.
- Manage a caseload, prioritizing cases, ensuring successful outcomes, and collaborating with the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with other professionals to improve service delivery effectiveness.
- Conduct swallowing assessments for inpatients, providing recommendations for patient care.
Responsibilities:
This position requires someone who can work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment, communicate clearly, and be flexible with work assignments. Familiarity with computer software, including MS Office, One Chart, and meeting platforms like OTN and MS Teams, is essential.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
- Previous experience working with children is required; preference given to candidates with a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in identifying and treating speech and language delays and disorders.
- Familiarity with Early Language Parent Training programs and family education on managing children with communication disorders.
- Proficiency in computer software, including MS Office, One Chart, and meeting platforms.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel within the region.
- Current Police Check/Vulnerable Sector Screen and immunization status required upon hire.
