Job Title: Policy Advisor

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced policy advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate and timely policy advice to senior leadership and Ministers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a professional network with central agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive policy briefs that inform senior decision making.
  • Investigate complex technical issues and communicate in clear and concise language appropriate for a range of audiences.
  • Provide expert advice on superannuation legislation and policy development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve quality outcomes.

Requirements

  • An understanding of and commitment to the Defence values and behaviours.
  • Good knowledge of/experience with Australian superannuation legislation.
  • Leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in achieving outcomes.
  • Communication skills with a demonstrated ability to translate information in a clear, concise manner and develop briefing material for a wide variety of audiences.

  • A track record in leading and developing a high performing team, managing a number of dynamic, competing priorities to achieve results.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous improvement in both policy and business processes, with the ability to mentor others and drive change.

About Our Team

Our Directorate is a recently formed policy team within Defence People Group, located in Canberra. We are responsible for managing the policy settings and advice on other administrative/technical issues that arise in relation to the superannuation schemes within the Defence portfolio.
