Patent Associate Role Overview

This position is available for a patent associate with experience in engineering to join our office. The role will involve all aspects of private patent attorney practice, including liaising with inventors and corporate clients, drafting patent specifications, conducting searches, providing patentability, patent infringement and patent validity opinions, and prosecuting patent applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing, prosecuting, analysing and providing opinions on patent applications relating to inventions in engineering.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree (with Honours) in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics engineering, mining engineering, biomedical engineering or equivalent.
  • Current registration as an Australian Patent Attorney and ideally a minimum of 2–4 years' experience post registration.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong command of written and verbal English.
  • Ability to understand, critically analyse information and think laterally.
  • Well organised and self-motivated.
  • Committed to providing clients with quality advice and service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Commitment to and interest in business development.
