Job Title:

Laboratory Specialist

Skillfully support teaching and learning in Science by preparing chemicals, equipment, and materials for lessons.

  • Design and construct teaching aids that promote hands-on learning experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to develop engaging classroom activities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage laboratory stocks, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and liaising with suppliers.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of secondary science subjects and laboratory techniques.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment, showcasing excellent interpersonal skills and communication.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • A background in a science laboratory setting, preferably with experience working with secondary school curriculum.
  • Well-developed computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft OneNote and Teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience working within a science laboratory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of science subjects relevant to the curriculum taught in secondary schools.
  • Demonstrated good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated well-developed keyboarding and computer skills including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
