Diesel Mechanic Job Description

This role involves working as a skilled Diesel Mechanic in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general property and vehicle maintenance & repair duties.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of basic preventative maintenance and repair techniques of Class 5 through Class 8 commercial vehicles, including tank trailer inspection and maintenance related to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform vehicle maintenance & repair duties safely and accurately in and around the shop operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance/inspections/repairs of Class 5 through Class 8 Commercial Vehicles and maintenance/inspection of tank trailers.
  • Utilize software programs to create and complete work orders and maintain work order/vehicle maintenance records.
  • Train/assist other technicians in performing preventive/repair of facilities and equipment to include trucks, tractors, and trailers.
  • Qualify as necessary with appropriate certifications to perform new technology evaluations, diagnosis, and repairs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • A minimum of 1-5 years of experience in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance/repair is preferred.
  • A current Air Brake Certification or at least 1 year of verifiable experience with the ability to obtain certification through KAGEPA 609 certification or the ability to obtain certification through KAG is also required.
