About the Azure Engineering Lead Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead technical delivery of Azure DevOps and Azure solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain best practices, reference architectures, and standards for Azure services and operations.
  • Support clients in onboarding and lifecycle management for Azure environments under managed services.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex Azure-related incidents, problems, and BAU enhancements.
  • Work with the team to improve monitoring, automation, and observability using Azure-native tools and integrations (e.g. Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Elastic).
  • Mentor engineers and consultants to uplift Azure technical capability across the team.
  • Drive certification and training initiatives aligned to Microsoft's cloud roadmap.
  • Contribute to workforce planning to ensure a high-performing Azure capability.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to key clients, contributing to technical strategy, optimisation, and cloud maturity.
  • Participate in pre-sales engagements, proposals, and solution design when Azure expertise is required.
  • Champion automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps principles within Azure solutions.
  • Continuously assess emerging Microsoft technologies and integrate them into the managed services offering where appropriate.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience delivering technical delivery of Azure DevOps and Azure solutions.
  • Experience with designing Azure cloud architecture covering IaaS and / or PaaS services.
  • Experience with Azure integration and exposure across services such as Function Apps, App Services, API Management, Logic Apps, and Service Bus.
  • Experience deploying and managing Azure AI services (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services) in production environments.
  • Proven ability to integrate agentic AI solutions (such as autonomous agents, orchestration frameworks, or AI-driven workflows) into cloud-native architectures.
  • Good knowledge of Azure services, subscriptions, and cost optimisation strategies.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code such as Azure Bicep and / or Terraform, and scripting with PowerShell and Azure CLI.
  • Experience designing scalable processes and infrastructure in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub or similar source control and CI / CD platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams or capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of managed services delivery and SLAs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and a commitment to documentation and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to be on an on-call roster after hours for which you will receive additional compensation.
