Head of Foundation

About this role:

The Head of Foundation will oversee all aspects of the foundation, with significant interaction across various departments and responsibility for defining strategic direction, partnerships, funding allocation, and performance evaluation to achieve impactful goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Strategy: Align the philanthropic efforts with the organization's stewardship priorities to enhance impact. Foster partnerships with aligned organizations to amplify priority areas and stewardship efforts. Utilize research to adapt strategy according to emerging trends and methodologies. Recommend charitable initiatives for funding in line with strategic impact agenda.
  • Impact Reporting: Establish a framework for measuring impact. Manage reporting from charitable partners, including reviewing reports and meeting with them if necessary.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legislation. Implement controls and frameworks for operational management.
  • Financial Management and Leadership: Present key papers to senior leadership and act on their resolutions. Maintain funding commitments and cashflow schedules. Prepare requisitions and finalize agreements in a timely manner.
  • Project Management: Communication - Handle inquiries about the foundation. Engage staff with foundation activities through presentations, volunteering opportunities, etc. Collaborate with marketing teams to develop content for various platforms.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in philanthropy or non-profit sector
  • Degree qualified + Master's in Social Impact or equivalent
  • Knowledge of investments preferred
  • Strategic mindset
  • Partnership expertise and exceptional stakeholder management abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to collaborate within a team and work independently
  • Deep understanding of philanthropy, specifically in climate and nature philanthropy
