About the Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Lawyer or Special Counsel to spearhead our Brisbane-based property transactions. This full-time role will focus on providing strategic legal advice and support to retail and property development clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Property Deals: Collaborate on commercial, office, industrial, and retail property sales, acquisitions, and due diligence for significant assets.
  • Development Projects: Assist with site acquisition, due diligence, structuring, titling, body corporate, and land subdivision developments.
  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance, including planning and zoning requirements, strata-titling, and associated matters, volumetric titling, DA approval requirements.
  • Leasing: Develop and negotiate commercial, office, industrial, and retail leases, including complex agreements for lease, major tenant leases, lease renewals, variations, and enforcement actions.
  • General Property Work: Contract negotiation, settlement processes, and property-related advisory work.
  • Client Relations: Direct client contact and relationship building with major property investors, developers, and corporate clients. Collaborating with the broader team to identify and mitigate legal risks for clients.
  • Mentor and supervise junior members of the legal team.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of post-qualification experience in commercial real estate and property development law.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, commercially-focused legal advice to clients.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance risk and commercial objectives.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and lead projects, while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
