Role Overview
A leading construction materials company is seeking a dynamic quarry planning specialist to oversee tactical planning and oversight of quarry and mine operations.
This strategic role focuses on commercially efficient extraction of resources, with coordination and forward planning across the business, and a key focus on planning approvals and end-of-life rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage short-term and long-term quarry reserve plans to meet future and current production targets.
- Report on geological assessments and work with consultants to identify areas for extraction.
- Design and implement quarry layouts and resource extraction plans.
- Coordinate with environmental and compliance teams to ensure compliance with local and state regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Prepare and submit required approvals, reports, permits, and documentation to regulatory bodies.
- Work with site and state managers to plan and align upcoming project approvals with preferred timing and budget constraints, while identifying opportunities for site consolidation/co-location and progressive rehabilitation.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 7 years of experience in quarry or mining operations, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- Strong understanding of quarry reserves planning, environmental management, and regulatory compliance in the mining and quarry sectors.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale, multi-site operations and leading teams across multiple locations.
- Extensive knowledge of quarry and mining planning legislation and regulatory compliance, preferably across multiple states.
- Strong strategic project management and planning skills.
