Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team on a part time basis, 4 days per week, 12 month fixed term.

In this role, you will work with clients to assess, intervene, and evaluate their orientation and mobility needs, ensuring they achieve safe and independent travel. You will also provide information, prescription, and training in mobility aids/devices, and collaborate with families, carers, and service providers to achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assessment, intervention, and evaluation in the areas of orientation and mobility for allocated caseload.
  • Provide information, prescription, and training in mobility aids/devices to support safe and independent travel.
  • Actively contribute to achieving positive client outcomes through effective communication and teamwork with families, carers, and service providers.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Orientation and Mobility.
  • Certification of Orientation and Mobility Specialists (COMS).
  • Demonstrated experience in providing orientation and mobility services to a diverse caseload.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound computer and report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
