Job Title: Director of Strategic Policy

Job Overview:

The Director of Strategic Policy is responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic policy initiatives that drive economic growth and innovation in Queensland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership, addressing complex challenges in Queensland's innovation sector and driving strategic partnerships to achieve business outcomes.
  • Program Development: Design, implement, and oversee initiatives creating high-value jobs and driving economic outcomes, ensuring alignment with government priorities and objectives.
  • Policymaking: Conduct research and analysis to inform evidence-based policy solutions, providing high-quality advice to senior management and stakeholders on key policy issues.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, communicating government priorities, programs, and strategic direction through effective stakeholder engagement and relationship building.
  • Document Preparation: Lead or contribute to Cabinet submissions, policy documents, reports, plans, briefing notes, and other strategic correspondence, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and impact.
  • Innovation Facilitation: Facilitate constructive dialogue to grow Queensland's innovation ecosystem, identifying opportunities for collaboration and development, and promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Representation: Act as a key representative of the department at industry events, meetings, and working groups, advancing government interests and building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Team Contribution: Foster a positive team environment, providing leadership, mentoring, and support to junior team members, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Diversity Promotion: Actively promote First Nations interests, supporting initiatives for Indigenous communities, and encouraging diversity and inclusion throughout the organization.
