Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Emergency Services Specialist to join our team at the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. As an Auxiliary Firefighter, you will play a vital role in responding to emergency situations and promoting community safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Incident Response: Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as part of a team, using specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Community Education: Contribute to community education activities to promote fire safety and emergency preparedness.
  • Training and Development: Develop and maintain competencies by actively participating in regular drills and other relevant training courses provided by the QFES to ensure safety and effectiveness on the fire ground.
Requirements:
  • Mandatory Requirements:
    • Eligible to apply for, or hold a current Blue Card.
    • Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable).
    • Live or work within a reasonable distance of auxiliary fire station.
    • Australian Permanent Resident Status.
    • Manual C Class driver's licence.
  • Commitment:
    • Attend incident and emergency calls – 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours; or 30% of calls as a shift worker or have non-routine hours.
    • Attend 75% of regular drill and training sessions.
    • Obtain an MRV licence, at own expense, within 12 months of employment.
    • Participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care.
    Accountabilities:
    • As a member of a team, respond to fire and other emergency incidents.
    • Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities.
    • Develop and maintain competencies by actively participating in regular drills and other relevant training courses provided by the QFES to ensure safety and effectiveness on the fire ground.
    • Maintain the required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
    • Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner.
