Job Overview

The role of Diabetes Dietitian is responsible for providing patient-centred and high-quality nutrition services to clients. The successful candidate will provide nutritional care to patients as per caseload, participate in education and evaluation activities, supervise students and Level 1-2 dietitians as appropriate, and engage in ongoing professional development.

Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals, part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District, work together to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the Macarthur region. Campbelltown Hospital is undergoing redevelopment to enhance clinical services. Camden Hospital provides specialist care for older persons with acute or chronic conditions, including rehabilitation, palliative care, geriatric evaluation and management, and psychogeriatric care. The two hospitals share a close-knit, community-focused team.

This position requires postgraduate qualification or Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics as recognized by the Dietitians Association of Australia, relevant clinical experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong computer skills (including CBORD). The successful candidate should also have experience and knowledge in service development and quality improvement, demonstrated ability in clinical supervision of students and/or staff, and be willing to engage in ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient-centred nutrition services and clinical care to a caseload of diabetes patients, including outpatients and inpatients as required.
  • Deliver education and evaluation activities; participate in service development and quality improvement.
  • Supervise students and Level 1-2 dietitians as appropriate.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate qualification or Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics as recognized by the Dietitians Association of Australia.
  • Relevant clinical experience including advanced practice skills and management of complex caseload in diabetes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including group education, and strong computer skills (including CBORD).
  • Experience and knowledge in service development and quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability in clinical supervision of students and/or staff.
