Medical Support Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Professional to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional patient care and support our doctors in a busy medical practice.

Job Summary:

This role involves providing main reception & practice / secretarial duties, working as part of an administration team to support a large group of doctors daily, and rotating duties of front reception Day Hospital reception, early and late shifts. You will also be responsible for answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries, processing patient admission to the hospital, checking private healthcare details, collecting excess and co-pays as required, welcoming patients, collecting and entering personal details and referrals up to date, ensuring patients details are checked and updated on a regular basis, and ensuring that patients arrivals are marked and manage wait room functions for both medical practice and day hospital as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing administrative support to a team of doctors and other medical staff
  • Managing patient records and admissions
  • Ensuring effective communication with patients and staff
  • Coordinating theatre/hospital bookings in CHARM & Totalcare booking systems
  • Liaising with patient admission teams regarding change of treatments and eligibility
  • Maintaining and managing patient information
  • Supporting Icon's WHS Officers and committees to effectively carry out their responsibilities
  • Modeling and promoting Icon's vision and values

About You:

  • Experience with Medicare, DVA and Private Health Insurance
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Word and Excel
  • Delivery of excellent client service (to internal and/or external clients)
  • Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology
