Energy Project Specialist

A key opportunity exists for a highly skilled Energy Project Specialist to support various energy projects, encompassing operational battery storage systems, wind farms under development, and gas-fired generation assets in design. You'll be part of a team driving innovation in the energy sector, providing technical expertise across SCADA, PLCs, HMI, and OT systems while contributing to design reviews, risk assessments, and system integration for critical projects.

Location: Brisbane (with flexible work-from-home options)

Contract: 6 months initially (with potential for extension or transition to permanent)

Rate: Negotiable for the right candidate

Start: As soon as possible

Responsibilities
  • Providing technical support (in the area of Control systems, networking, HMI, SCADA and any associated OT activities) to operational plants, supporting the team of Maintainer Operators and Technical Officers
  • Leading and contributing to Operational Risks Assessment Activities
  • OT infrastructure patching
  • Management of change process: Reviewing and approving contractor-suggested modifications, preparing Owner's ITP and testing requirements
  • Participation in Safety in Design activities (including HAZOP, CHAZOP, etc.)
  • Support specifications development and standardization activities
  • Supporting design reviews for plants in the design stage to ensure required integration with CS systems
  • Participating in OT improvement initiatives (cybersecurity enhancement, building knowledge base, OT upgrade)
  • Supporting updates and maintenance of manuals, updating documentation based on actual design (as-builts)
Qualifications
  • At least 6 years' experience in control systems engineering
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA, PLCs, HMI development, and industrial networking
  • Background in functional/process safety and cybersecurity
  • Operational experience preferred; SEL RTAC experience highly regarded
