Therapy Animal Companion

Working as a Therapy Dog Companion involves providing emotional support and interaction to people of all ages. You will be an essential member of our team, accompanying therapy dogs on visits to schools and other settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompany therapy dogs on visits to schools and other settings.
- Interact with people in need of emotional support.
- Facilitate group activities and engage with individuals.
- Handle a variety of animals, especially dogs, with confidence and enthusiasm.
- Adopt protocols for handling animals and conducting onsite visits.
- Communicate effectively with people of all ages and demonstrate strong communication skills.
- Be prepared to share information about the animals you are working with.
- Show patience and empathy when interacting with individuals.
Requirements:
- A good work ethic and a current working with children's check.
- A current police check.
- A driver's license and a car suitable for transporting a therapy dog.
- Compliance with OHS requirements at visited locations.
- Flexibility and willingness to help with various tasks as needed.
Selection Criteria:
- Ability to identify and support individuals who struggle to engage in group settings.
- Capacity to work effectively as part of a team.
- Understanding of what creates positive experiences for individuals within groups.
