About the PositionWe are currently looking for a permanent full-time Chief Engineer to join our cement carrier Goliath in the Bass Strait. The Chief Engineer is responsible for all engineer Officers under their care for machinery and equipment assigned to them.
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for:
- Safely operating all machinery and electrical equipment, as well as effectively maintaining the whole ship;
- Steelwork repairs and maintenance apart from general cleaning and preparation prior to and including painting;
- Issuing Vessel's Work Orders;
- Reporting deficiencies affecting safe, efficient, and pollution-free running of the vessel to the Master;
- Ensuring planned maintenance systems meet regulatory requirements;
- Liaising with Fleet Technical Managers or Senior Vessel Managers for technical soundness.
Required qualifications include:
- Engineer class 1 (as per AMSA Marine Order 72);
- Minimum 12 months' sea time as a First Engineer;
- MSIC Card (or ability to obtain);
- Working Safely at Heights certification (or ability to obtain);
- Enter and Work in a Confined Workspace certification (or ability to obtain);
- Current AMSA Medical certificate.
