About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mine Geologist to join our team at BHP Group. As a Mine Geologist, you will play a critical role in supporting the site's production, planning, project, CHPP, environmental, and closure needs through the timely delivery of geology information and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide geological support to the site operational teams.
  • Conduct geological pit inspections and structural mapping.
  • Update 3D models of coal seams and geological features.
  • Develop production models to support through-seam loading and blasting.
  • Undertake geological data collection, interpretation, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Provide input into mine plans and designs and collaborate with Grade Control Engineers, Survey, Geotech, and Production.
  • Seek to minimize coal loss and dilution through regular and proactive pit presence and the development of accurate geological plans.
  • Continuously improve procedures and processes.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Tertiary Education in Geology.
  • A valid Australia Driver's Licence.
  • Operational experience in open-cut coal mining is advantageous.
  • Exposure to geological modelling.
  • Knowledge of coal mining, structural geology, and coal flow.
  • Experience with Vulcan, Geobank, and Plexer is advantageous.
  • Experience with and understanding of coal quality.
