Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager - Quarry and Mining to join our team at SLR. This is a challenging role that requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and stakeholders.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing quarry operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing technical guidance to clients. A strong understanding of mining and quarrying principles, as well as excellent communication and project management skills, are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee quarry operations to ensure efficient and safe production.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, providing expert advice and support on quarry operations and management.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to quarry operations, including safety and environmental assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director - Resources and Operations to deliver projects and meet client needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Diploma of Surface Operations Management or equivalent engineering qualifications.
  • Relevant health and safety qualifications or demonstrated experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Act 2013.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years' experience in quarry operations, including HME and crushing and screening plant management.
  • Experience in risk management and assessments, safety auditing, and report writing.
