Pricing Specialist Role

Our organization is a leading global specialist in project freight forwarding, offering opportunities for long-term career growth and flexible work arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, assemble, and deliver key commercial tender responses/proposals within the Local and Regional Tender Management team.
  • Support commercial aspects of tender requests and perform cost analysis.
  • Assign and distribute tasks and rate requests to overseas offices and support functions during bidding process.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers and sub-contractors.
  • Able to read ocean and air freight rates as well as understanding of common terms and conditions.
  • Able to calculate rate and price conversion, convert and verify shipment weight and volume, and use rate charts to convert foreign currency to U.S. Dollars and vice-versa.
  • Develop and establish communication with foreign operations, carriers, and local customers.
  • Build relationships with vendors, shippers, customers, carriers, and overseas offices throughout the tendering process.
  • Present competitive pricing/bid packages including follow-up with customers to obtain feedback.
  • Maintain rate database, service contracts, and port tariffs, and other key documents.
  • Maintain and follow TM log and generate reports as needed.
Requirements:
  • Excellent knowledge in managing commercial and operational aspects in all major freight forwarding disciplines: land, air, ocean, specialized heavy or over-dimensional transport for industrial projects (at least 5 years of experience).
  • Good working knowledge of domestic and international geography, including countries, major cities, airports.
  • Effective time management skills and capable of evaluating competing deadlines and prioritizing workflow.
  • Strong commercial, technical, and financial acumen.
  • Strong organizational skills (prioritize, plan, assign, control).
  • Possess knowledge and/or awareness of risk factors and familiar with basic measures to manage and mitigate risk.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; and PC skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, team-focused, and self-starter, with an eye for detail.
  • MS Office experience: MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and other software/tools.
  • Has what it takes to create a winning bid proposal in a lead or support function.
