Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Sydney. This client-facing role involves leading projects from concept to delivery, shaping innovative engineering solutions and mentoring junior team members.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering and at least 6 years of experience in mechanical building services engineering, preferably in a consultancy setting.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, with effective liaison capabilities for clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams. They will also be proficient with industry software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical calculation tools.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Lead the mechanical design and coordination of various project types.
  2. Evaluate designs against Australian codes and regulations, client specifications, and best practices in sustainable design.
  3. Develop mechanical system designs, incorporating HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, and BMS/controls integration.
  4. Conduct site inspections, testing, and reporting on mechanical services installations.
  5. Collaborate with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams for successful project delivery.
  6. Support the preparation of design documentation, specifications, tender submissions, and technical reports.
  7. Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers.
  8. Participate in internal technical reviews and ensure quality assurance processes are met.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (essential).
  • At least 6 years' experience in mechanical building services engineering, preferably in a consultancy setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with industry software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical calculation tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with effective liaison capabilities for clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
