The Clinical Facilitator plays a vital role in supporting nursing students to develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes for practice in a clinical environment. This position requires a highly developed clinical, communication, and interpersonal skillset, with a strong commitment to research and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee student clinical practice and deliver education and assessment opportunities to ensure clinical placement requirements are met.
- Clearly communicate expectations of students while on clinical placement.
- Ensure adequate personal orientation to the clinical facility/service.
- Orientate students to the clinical placement facility (resources, workplace health and safety issues), conduct student debriefs, and gain feedback from students and facility staff.
- Liaise with health facility/service staff to provide opportunities for students to meet relevant clinical learning objectives.
- Communicate with the Clinical Placement Coordinator to ensure effective and appropriate experiences for students.
- Assist students in developing communication, problem-solving, clinical, and professional skills.
- Respond positively to the immediate concerns and needs of students and health care facility/service coordinators.
- Promote the safety of both patients/clients and students.
- Conduct pre-briefing and debriefing sessions with students.
- Minimum of 3 years' broad clinical experience in nursing.
- Detailed understanding of relevant professional and accreditation requirements.
- Tertiary qualification in nursing or related health discipline.
- Current Division 1 Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA with no conditions or notations.
- Current Workplace Immunisation, as per State requirements.
- Advanced clinical nursing knowledge and skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and apply key conflict resolution skills in the student environment.
- High-level interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
