Professional Pastry Chef Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced professional pastry chef to join our team in a fast-paced commercial bakery. As a key member of the production team, you will be responsible for preparing and producing high-quality bakery products, adhering to our strict standards.

  • Preparing quality bakery products by following our recipes and guidelines.
  • Inspecting equipment and premises to ensure occupational health and safety compliance.
  • Evaluating raw materials, accurately weighing ingredients, and ensuring consistency in product standards.
  • Mixing, kneading, and preparing dough for various baked products.
  • Preparing pastry fillings and operating machines for rolling and moulding dough.
  • Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance for optimal baking times.
  • Coordinating the forming, baking, cooling, and de-panning of bread and pastry batches.
  • Implementing strict bakery hygiene practices, including cleaning and sanitising equipment.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum 1 year full-time baking experience or Certificate III in Baking (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of dough fermentation, mixing techniques, and baking processes.
  • Experience working in a high-volume commercial bakery.
  • Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.
