Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Scientist Grade 1 to join our Transfusion Laboratory team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. As a key member of our team, you will assist in supporting the Rapid Access Hub and contribute to the improvement of pathology transfusion services.

About the Role
  • You will work closely with our team to satisfy set learning goals and improve competence in all aspects of Transfusion Science, ensuring compliance with relevant Australian Standards, Legislation, and hospital policies.
  • You will be responsible for processing specimens according to established laboratory procedures and issuing results relevant to these specimens.
  • You will work in various sections of the Haematology laboratory, utilizing your skills in Immunohaematology and pre-transfusion testing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science, or equivalent qualification.
  • Competence in Immunohaematology and pre-transfusion testing.
  • Sound knowledge of clinical haematology and its practical applications.
  • Competence in interpreting blood transfusion.
  • Competence in haematological results and blood film examination (an advantage).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Current National criminal history check, or willingness to obtain.
