Linux Technology Optimization Lead

Our organization is seeking a skilled Technology Optimization Lead to oversee the development of Ubuntu, a widely used Linux desktop and server operating system.
This role requires a strong technical leader with experience in software engineering, Linux distributions, and debian packaging.
The successful candidate will work closely with specialist engineers from silicon companies to integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements for upcoming hardware platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of distributed engineers to design and implement optimal Ubuntu integration for latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
- Collaborate with commercial partners to deliver an exceptional, optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
- Develop team members through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and feedback.
- Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely delivery on agreed project milestones while maintaining strict quality and reliability standards.
- Engage with other teams at Canonical to ensure alignment on product architecture and roadmaps.
Requirements:
- Proven track record of managing or leading a team of software engineers.
- Understanding of agile software development methodologies.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral.
- Bachelor's degree in technology field, preferably with relevant industry experience.
