
Senior Legal Advisor: Merger and Exemption Law

We are seeking a skilled and experienced legal counsel to join our team. As a lawyer in the Mergers and Exemptions Law Unit, you will play a key role in providing expert advice on complex issues relating to the functions and powers of the ACCC under the CCA, including the new merger regime.
This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-senior level lawyer to contribute to the development and implementation of legal strategies that promote competition and consumer protection.
- You will conduct thorough research into complex matters relevant to ACCC responsibilities under relevant legislation.
- Assist with the conduct of investigations and court proceedings, working closely with external lawyers.
- Provide strategic and legal policy advice to support the performance of dispute resolution functions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Part IV of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, particularly in respect of merger clearances and competition exemptions or administrative law.
In this role, you will work effectively as a lawyer advising and guiding line areas under very tight timeframes.
Requirements- Admission as a practitioner, however described, of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
- Experience in working effectively as a lawyer advising and guiding line areas under very tight timeframes.
- A competitive salary package, with Lawyer 1 (APS5) $95,374 (plus 15.4% superannuation) and Lawyer 1 (APS6) $99,562 - $111,590 (plus 15.4% superannuation).
