About the Role

As a key member of the Monash Council team, you will be responsible for leading the Landscape and Playspace team in delivering high-quality maintenance and upkeep of the council's open space assets. This includes a range of landscape assets, playgrounds, and other public spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the appearance and functionality of landscape assets, including gardens, parks, and other public spaces.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of horticultural and landscape equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and meets safety standards.
  • Lead the team in playground maintenance and repairs, ensuring that all equipment is safe and functional.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, stakeholders, and contractors to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and council policies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the appearance and functionality of open space assets.
  • Manage and maintain naturestrips, timber fencing, and bollards.
  • Oversee the maintenance and construction of unsealed paths.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated and experienced horticultural professional with a strong background in landscape maintenance and management. You will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a team and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum Certificate III in Horticulture (Landscaping/Construction) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in hard and soft landscape maintenance and equipment operation.
  • Commitment to occupational health and safety and quality control processes.
  • Current manual Victorian driver's license.
  • Medium Rigid Truck license or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Skid steer loader license or willingness to obtain within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Traffic management accreditation and demonstrated experience.
  • Basic carpentry trade skills.
  • Understanding of playground safety and relevant inspection training or willingness to obtain within the first 3 months of employment.
