The Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quitline Supervisor Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our Quitline service, you will play a critical role in providing clinical leadership and supervision to our counsellors, ensuring the delivery of high-quality support to individuals seeking to quit smoking and/or vaping.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to counsellors on shift, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide effective support to clients.
- Be the first point of escalation for clients and counsellors, providing timely and effective support to resolve complex issues.
- Provide telephone counselling to individuals who smoke and/or vape, as well as informational support to carers and family members, and health professionals about providing cessation care.
- Undertake clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, deliver evidence-based counselling, and provide follow-up sessions to maintain client motivation and prevent relapse.
- Monitor and evaluate the service, participating in the development and implementation of quality improvement activities to ensure Quitline NSW continues to operate as an efficient, evidence-based service.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising counsellors, ideally in a clinical setting.
- Strong counselling skills, with experience working with individuals who have substance dependence and/or mental health issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document clinical outcomes and maintain client engagement.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and outside business hours, and willingness to assist with backfilling shifts as needed.
- Non-smoker status, with a minimum of six months' abstinence from smoking or vaping.
