Process Control Systems Engineer - Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Optimisation: Develop, maintain, and improve engineering solutions to enhance performance, prevent delays, and minimise lifecycle costs of Process Control Systems, instrumentation, and related infrastructure.
  • Process Review and Improvement: Conduct thorough reviews and implement enhancements to process control strategies, ensuring optimal system performance.
  • PID Tuning: Apply expertise in PID loop tuning on complex systems to achieve precise control.
  • Alarm Rationalisation: Implement efficient alarm management systems to reduce false alarms and improve operator response times.
  • Software and Firmware Updates: Effectively update and test control system software, firmware, and patches to ensure seamless operation.
  • Reporting and Configuration: Generate accurate reports and configure the Process Control System, instrumentation, and related infrastructure to meet operational needs.
  • Change Management: Implement changes according to established Management of Change processes, ensuring compliance and minimal disruption.
  • Equipment Commissioning: Configure and commission VSDs, DOLs, network switches, instrumentation, and other equipment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Maintenance Planning: Analyse assets and predict maintenance requirements to optimise downtime and extend asset lifespan.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and assess risks using enterprise risk framework policies and procedures, developing and implementing effective risk mitigation plans.
  • Fault Finding and Rectification: Collaborate in fault finding and failure investigations, and participate in subsequent rectification work.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with control system developments and contribute to the professional growth of electrical technicians within the control and instrumentation environment.
