Job Description

The role of an Education Support Class member at this level involves performing tasks that align with established guidelines, best practices, and school policies under close supervision and direction. This may include coordinating with other education support class staff within a specific work area or educational program.

This position supports the delivery of educational services to students while ensuring that duties do not overlap with those of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required on an individual or group basis, up to 4 students, in controlled circumstances where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years may be required for this level of the role (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, with the first level being Level 1 range 3).

A role at this level typically involves:

  • Undertaking specific support tasks to achieve outcomes, which often involves accountability for a single function or coordination of a work area under the direction of a principal or manager.
  • Providing assistance to teachers within an educational program by undertaking specific support tasks or coordinating the support function.
  • Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks, or other specialized student/teacher support roles (e.g. enrolled nurses performing a specific role as described). These roles require specific qualifications and/or training, including roles where further training must be undertaken from time to time.
  • Technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options.

An Education Support Class member at this level starting at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available.

ResponsibilitiesClassroom Support
  • Provide support to staff regarding student payments for camps, events, and other payments to the college by parents.
Communication
  • Liaise with Student Records regarding new and exiting students to ensure all charges are processed as required.
  • Provide information to staff on payments made.
  • Provide information to parents regarding payments, statements, CSEF, and college policy.
  • Update the in-house school phone list.
Records Management
  • Enter all charges onto CASES21.
  • Ensure that all events entered on Compass are approved timely.
  • Ensure that Compass reports and CASES21 reports are accurate and updated.
  • Remove all student charges as soon as practical when they have exited.
Key Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess up to three years of certification and/or qualifications. It is essential to note that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, with the first level being Level 1 range 3.
