St Paul's Catholic College is seeking a Temporary Part Time EALD Teacher to join the team.

The college offers an inclusive environment where students and staff can develop their capacities and skills.

The curriculum focuses on spiritual growth and reflects respect for diversity.

English as an Additional Language or Dialect Teachers are employed to ensure identified students receive support to develop English language and literacy skills.

The aims of the EALD Teacher role in a Catholic school are to:

  • Assist classroom teachers and curriculum leaders to develop and implement responses to support EALD students.
  • Gather, analyse, and use the EALD Learning Progression to inform practice, and plan, create, and deliver effective English language learning activities.
  • Mentor, monitor, and engage in the English language development, academic performance, and wellbeing of each EALD student.
  • Create a positive learning environment.
  • Personalise learning for students according to their language needs and abilities, and create effective EALD assessment practices and quality teaching programs.
  • Support the school's strategic focus for learning and work collaboratively with colleagues across the school.
Desired Skills and Experience
  1. A clear understanding of and commitment to Catholic Education and ensuring a Catholic perspective across the curriculum.
  2. Inclusive education and empathy toward non-English speaking and refugee backgrounds.
  3. Experience with current evidence-based English language learning pedagogy and practice.
  4. Interacting and engaging with members of the school and wider community with respect for dignity.
  5. Effectively utilising data to optimise educational outcomes.
  6. Teaching in various modes in response to student needs.

Qualifications include being a four-year trained teacher according to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers or the EAL/D Elaborations.

Active NESA Accreditation, paid NSW Working with Children Check, completion of anaphylaxis training, Senior First Aid Certificate, and compliance with relevant policies.
