Job Title: Senior Associate, Insurance Law

About the Role:

As a senior associate, you will have the opportunity to be part of a broad ranging practice working on a diverse range of insurance matters. You will work closely with the partner and other team members to deliver high-quality services to clients.

  • Provide advice to insurers on cover and have primary responsibility for the day-to-day running of litigation including document management, correspondence with opposing solicitors, and court attendances.
  • Prepare briefs for and attend hearings with counsel and retain expert witnesses and finalise witness reports as well as interview lay witnesses and prepare drafts of lay witness statements.
  • Correspond with clients, both insured and insurers, and maintain client portals. Deal with coverage counsel and assist with the preparation and presentation of workshops.
  • Collaborate with senior practitioners and other team members to achieve business goals. Coach and mentor junior lawyers and support graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotations.
Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

  • A tertiary qualification in law with a current practising certificate for a relevant jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years PAE experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a passion for influencing and negotiating successful outcomes.
  • Highly organised with effective and timely file management and time recording practices.
  • A highly developed customer service ethic and proven experience in building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders and peers.
