Waverley Christian College is a forward-thinking and culturally diverse educational institution offering a quality Christian education to students from Kinder to Year 12. With two campuses in Wantirna South and Narre Warren South, the College has an enrolment of over 2400 students and 400 staff across both campuses.

The College seeks a full-time Director of Learning Support to lead its Learning Enrichment and Program Support (LEAPS) Department. This vital role focuses on delivering high-quality educational and developmental support for all students, staff, and families from Early Learning to Year 12.

The successful candidate will oversee a dedicated team of Learning Support Teachers and Assistants, ensuring that tailored support is provided for students with diverse needs, including disabilities, well-being challenges, gifted learners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and those learning English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Key responsibilities include assessing students' needs, implementing Individualised Education Plans, and liaising with external specialists and securing funding for resources and programs to support students' learning outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate leadership and organisational skills, a commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment, and the ability to foster collaboration among LEAPS staff, educators, Student Wellbeing Coordinators, parents, and students.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Learning Enrichment and Program Support (LEAPS) Department
  • Oversight of a dedicated team of Learning Support Teachers and Assistants
  • Implement Individualised Education Plans for students
  • Liaise with external specialists and secure funding for resources and programs

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher with current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
  • Demonstrate knowledge of best practices in learning support and special education laws
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills
